28. Photos for the Web

There may come a time to put your photos on the web. A clean and white background will help in the photos you will see I used a white posterboard that you can get at any Art store or you can use a white paper. You can get and learn the photoediting programs like Photoshop. For the pistol I used two lights and a light tent.
I used simple day light at noon for the other photos blue sky no clouds. These photos were taken in a parking lot. So, you really don't need a studio with big lights.

Grand opening celebration May 16 for dream playground

The much-anticipated grand opening for Matteo’s Dream, A Playground for Children of All Abilities, will be held Wednesday evening May 16 at 6:30 p.m. The playground is located in Hillcrest Park, 2050 Olivera Rd. in Concord. The playground is one of the few places in the Bay Area where children who cannot walk, see or hear can play safely alongside children who can.

Children of all abilities will have their first opportunity to use the playground after the ribbon is cut on May 16. Although playground construction was essentially complete on April 29, the special rubberized flooring that makes the playground wheel-chair friendly had to be poured in place once the other installation was finished. The more than 2,000 volunteers who constructed Matteo’s Dream over a two-week period are especially encouraged to attend the event.

The project is spearheaded by Concord resident Liz Lamach, whose son, Matteo, uses a wheelchair and is blind. As a member of the City of Concord Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission and the Lions Club of Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, Lamach brought people together to make Matteo’s dream of an accessible playground a reality. The City is making the site available on public land at Hillcrest Park and provided $232,000 in park funds. Lions Club members have raised an additional $500,000 and solicited in-kind donations and volunteers.

The playground design was developed by Dennis Wille, a New York engineer, whose company, Leather’s & Associates, specialize in community-designed and built playgrounds. Wille visited several local schools to gather information from children about what makes a “dream playground.” He also met with a special needs group to determine how to maximize accessibility while maintaining maximum playability for all users.

Wille has said that to his knowledge the scope and mission of Matteo's Dream is unprecedented. "The accessibility is really pushed to an extreme," he said. "It's certainly something we've never done before."
